Muff Maskovsky February 13th 2015 (1930 - 2015)

Our group mourns the passing of Muff Maskovsky whose article from the Register is excerpted below. Muff was with our group for a few years as he transitioned from home to Emeritus before moving to Massachusetts last year to be closer to his children.
Muff was a long-time educator in Torrington as a high school teacher and principal, assistant superintendent and interim superintendent before moving on to Region 6 as superintendent. His determination, diplomacy and foresight created a legacy that includes the Warner Theater and Torrington's UCONN branch. He was a community activist who helped to make Torrington a strong, caring town where children could grow in an enriching environment.

TORRINGTON — Ralph Gerald Murphy, 95, husband of Dorothy (McKeon), passed away peacefully on March 19, 2015 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
A resident of Torrington, Conn., he was born in Bronx, NY. on July 24, 1919 to Thomas and Catherine (Quinn) Murphy. Ralph completed his studies at Fordham University in New York and then entered the U.S. Army in the summer of 1941.
He served in the East Indies Campaign in the Southwest Pacific during World War II, rising to the rank of staff sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1945. He was recently honored by state Sen. Kevin Witkos as the October, 2014 World War II Veteran of the Month.
After the war, Ralph returned to New York to earn his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. He was member of the New York and Connecticut bars.
Ralph began his legal career at the firm of Menken, Ferguson and Idler in Manhattan, N.Y. and then moved on to serve as a contract administrator at United Aircraft Corp./Sikorsky Aircraft Division, in Stratford, Conn. He came to Northwest Connecticut as a field claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance Co.

She had recently enjoyed happy days and peaceful nights – there had been no sign that her passing was near. She is forever in the hearts of her beloved husband John, their son John “Bub” Bolus and daughter Julie Bolus, and also of her children’s dearest friends, Lolly Schroeder and Dave Stewart and his sons Gray and Harry Stewart. She cherished her beautiful family – dearest sisters Adeline Stoughton and Mary Richard, adored nieces, nephews and cousins, and beloved parents Cristina and Louis. Her greatest joy was the happiness of those she loved.

CANAAN — Ann L. (Wilson) Tierney, 58, of 59 College Hill Road, died Thursday morning, March 17, 2016 at Sharon Hospital after a valiant six-year battle with Parkinson's disease. She was the wife and soulmate of William A. Tierney.
She was born June 7, 1957 in Great Barrington, Mass., daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy (Bagnaschi) Wilson. Ann was a lifelong resident of Canaan. She was a graduate of Housatonic Regional High School.
