Torrington Area Parkinsons Support Group
The Torrington Area Parkinsons Support Group recently organized to fill a local need for new information on and solutions related to Parkinson's disease. Our meetings are held every fourth Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM at the Sullivan Senior Center located in Torrington. (check our calendar)
Meetings include speakers from health care professions and local support services organizations, as well as separate group sessions for both the caregiver and caretaker.
Our Northwestern Connecticut area parkinsons support group meetings are open to those who have Parkinsons disease, their caregivers, their family and friends, and other interested parties.

The Torrington Area Parkinson's Support Group is excited to host its 11th WALK IN THE WOODS FOR PARKINSON'S on Sunday, September 18,2022 at White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield, CT to raise funds to support area people with Parkinson's. Join us as we celebrate more than a decade of walking together to fight Parkinson's disease. TAPSG brings together people with PD, their care partners, area professionals and related agencies to provide education, exercise and resources to the PD community. Parkinson's disease currently affects over one million people in our country, and one in 100 people over the age of 60.
In the last ten years, participants have supported two important causes: the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, and an exercise program for local citizens with PD, which has an annual cost of approximately $20,000. Exercise is the only thing known to slow disease progression; there is no cure and no symptom reversal. We ask for your support to expand our opportunities to make a difference in the lives of area people with Parkinson's.
